Aluminum panels are easier to form into aerodynamic shapes and accept powder coating in a wide range of colors for aesthetic customization.

3. Weight Comparison

Steel panels weigh approximately 4-6 kg per square meter per millimeter of thickness, while aluminum panels weigh only 2.7 kg per square meter per millimeter. For a typical 10-panel door covering a 6-meter opening, steel construction adds 150-250 kg to the total assembly weight compared to aluminum. This weight difference directly impacts motor selection, energy consumption, and wear on mechanical components.

4. Cost Analysis

Aluminum alloy panels cost approximately 15-25% more than equivalent steel panels due to raw material price differences. However, the reduced motor requirements and longer component lifespan often offset the initial premium over a 5-10 year period. For budget-conscious projects, steel doors with proper hot-dip galvanization and powder coating provide adequate performance at a lower initial cost.
